Fast Congestion Relief with Essential Oils

It’s that time of year when kids are going back to school and that means germs are invading their systems and your home.  Colds are inevitable.  Flu season is right around the corner.  Both of these mean stuffy noses, coughing, sneezing, fevers and other yucky symptoms that make life rough for everyone.  I hate when my kids are sick and there is nothing I can do to help.  That’s why I love this DIY Congestion Relief recipe that uses essential oils and other objects from around the home.  It’s so easy! We call it a “Breathe Cup” named for the Breathe oil blend that we use.

Congestion Relief Breathe Cup Recipe

These are all items that most of us have around our home.  If you need essential oils, you can click on their names and order them direct from me.  I am an Independent Product Consultant for doTERRA essential oils and love sharing the healing benefits they offer.  Congestion relief is just one of the many ways you can use essential oils.  I even have recipes for flu symptom relief, PMS help, migraine cures and so much more.

Items needed for congestion relief cup:

The best sized container for congestion relief will fit over your nose or nose and mouth.  You want to be able to deeply inhale the aroma of the essential oils to get the best possible congestion relief.  If you do not like Melaleuca oil  you can also try eucalyptus oil, peppermint oil or our On Guard oil blend.  Follow your nose on these choices.  Whichever smells best, use it.  Your body knows what it needs to feel better.

How to Get Congestion Relief From Your Breathe Cup

If you have everything needed, go ahead and make your congestion relief cup.  Even if you do not need it now, you will eventually.  The airtight lid means it will be ready for use, even weeks down the road.  It’s also a great way to save money on the use of essential oils.

  • Open the cup.
  • Place the cup near your nose (or over it) and inhale slow and deep.
  • Repeat as often as needed
  • Replace lid securely
  • Keep in a cool dry place and it will retain it’s usability for weeks to come.

If the scent starts to fade, add a couple drops of oil and continue to use your congestion relief cup.  You can place your congestion relief cup over your nose and mouth and the heat from your breath will help produce vapors from the oils and increase the benefits.  There are no chemicals in doTERRA oils and they do not stay in your system for long periods.  This means you can use this cup several times an hour if needed, to help with congestion.  It may also help with a cough.

If you need essential oils for your congestion relief cup you can shop at my doTERRA store.
