The Cosby Show
The Cosby Show was one of my favorite shows EVER! I felt like I grew up with the Huxtable kids. I looked forward to it every week! I had a crush on Theo, wanted to be Denise, and thought Rudy was the cutest thing ever! I remember when Sandra brought Elvin home, all of Denise’s boyfriends and will never forget the anniversary and birthday episodes when they did the musical numbers.
I just found out that they still syndicate them and I have to find out where! I want my kids to see the show. At current my kids LOVE Full House. Yes, Full House. You remember? It’s where we all discovered the Olsen twins! Danny, Jesse, Joey, DJ, Stephanie, Michelle, Becky, Nicky, Alex and even Comet. Yep. I remember. It was a favorite of mine, too. But The Cosby Show was the best!
It’s All Relative
I think we could all relate to something about The Cosby Show. Sibling rivalry, marital troubles and arguments, teen angst, true love and even social and economical issues were addressed. There was never a black couple on television in such a positive and enlightening role. I do not think there has been one, since, that has had such an impact on a generation. At least not in my opinion.
The roles that African Americans played, at that time, were mostly very stereotypical. The Cosby Show and the Huxtable family were far from stereotypical. A doctor and a lawyer with a large family…and they were black. It was unheard of. I truly believe that color lines were broken by this show. It let “outsiders” see that the stereotypes were anything but stereotypical!
Did You Love It

My new favorite TV family is the Robertsons from A&E’s Duck Dynasty. I love that show!
I always loved the Cosby Show! When I was a kid in the ’80′s there were so many great shows!
I always loved the show and still do watch it when I catch it on. I also love the “controversial” show Roseanne. I can relate to the show and the issues seeemed more real life. I prefer the earlier shows though…the later ones (like after they won the lottery) was just too much for my taste.
Yep, I loved the Cosby Show as well as Full House and my children enjoy Full House as well—isn’t that funny?
Oh, and our new favorite show is Duck Dynasty! We actually just started watching after seeing all of you post about it on Facebook. (I’m loving this font by the way…ha ha!)
Honestly, I remember watching it, but not that often. I’ve seen episodes in passing reruns. I’ve always liked the episodes I watched though.

Oh yes…I used to watch the Cosbys. Used to watch a lot of those families on TV back in the days. I too am a big fan of Duck Dynasty! Love them! Great TV!!
I love the Cosby show too!! If I remember correctly, it comes on TV Land now. I think it might come on one or two other channels really late at night too. I’ll have to double check. My favorites were the musical numbers too!!
